DESARROLLANDO CREATIVIDAD, INNOVACIÓN Y OTRAS COMPETENCIAS EN ESTUDIANTES DE INGENIERÍA
Abstract
Forming creative and innovative engineers is apromise of many institutions of higher education. It is also adesired quality stated in professional profiles, educationalmodels, and accreditation criteria of careers, among others.Nevertheless recent studies show that students do notdevelop these and other important qualities of professionalprofiles at satisfactory levels in their careers. This documentdescribes a learning experience aimed to improveinnovation and creativity of engineering students. Faced to achallenge and without having ideas of solutions, neither therequired specific knowledge, students had to put in actiontheir individual and collective capacities to generateinnovative solutions. As they progressed through theirprojects, students had to creatively solve unexpectedcomplex situations. Meanwhile they developed knowledge,skills and attitudes of their professional profile. The resultsshow the benefits of active learning in forming morecompetent engineers.
