Abstract


This paper discuss the formation of BrazilianEngineers, in particular electrical engineer with emphasis inpower systems. A brief description about historicaldevelopment about engineering schools in Brazil, and theneducational legislation is analyzed. It is done an analysis ofnumber of applicants to engineering colleges, of approved inentrance examination and of graduated students per year,with purpose to show how disinterest for this area and highevasion can contribute to the current scenario, where isobserved shortage of professionals with knowledge in powersystems. In final comments is emphasized the need of theacknowledgement of Education in Engineering as animportant area, that will have the responsibility to solveissues like the development of teaching probation period,inserting topics like didactics and pedagogy, research areaslike academic management in post graduation programs,with purpose to graduate professionals most capable toadapt to a dynamic job market.
