ANÁLISE COMPARATIVA DE DESEMPENHO DE REDES 802.11 E 802.11e USANDO SIMULAÇÃO

Abstract

The necessity of QoS policies implementationhas become inevitable with the expansion of wirelessnetwork and the presence of different types of traffic. Thestandard wireless network IEEE 802.11 has no mechanismable to provide implementation of effective QoS policies.Therefore in 2005 the standard IEEE 802.11e waspublished. This study evaluates the performance of 802.11network with data and voice traffics coexistence throughsimulation. The performance of mobile workstation inaccordance with 802.11 and 802.11e standards was alsoanalyzed since IEEE 802.11 anticipates the mobility ofworkstation. This study demonstrates that the use ofsimulation contributes to the development of learning indifferent subjects like computer networking andprogramming languages and demonstrates that thesimulation may be used as a teaching or designing tool.
