UFRJ – ESCOLA POLITÉCNICA – PROPOSTA PARA IMPLEMENTAÇÃO DA ÊNFASE EM ENGENHARIA DE PRODUÇÃO PARA AS OUTRAS HABILITAÇÕES EM ENGENHARIA

Abstract

Production Engineering is one of the moredemanded courses at Escola Politécnica of UFRJ. Distinctlyfrom other universities, other undergraduate engineeringcourses of UFRJ do not offer an emphasis on ProductionEngineering, their curricula only include a few optionaldisciplines of this segment, chosen in a random fashion. Thepresent work has as its objective to present a proposal toimplement this emphasis, deemed relevant by its author, ashe sees it (i) as important to the complementary preparationof the engineer, principally the one that will work on theshop floor and (ii) as a factor that will contribute to reduceevasion levels in courses other than ProductionEngineering. Metallurgical Engineering is theundergraduate course displaying the lowest candidates pervacancy and that makes use of a significant number ofProduction Engineering disciplines in its curriculum,reasons that induced the author to regard it as a model forthe current proposal.
