Abstract

The Petroleum Engineering Course of thePolytechnic School of UFRJ was begun in 2004 with theoffer of 25 vacancies. Due to the continuous discovery ofnew fields of petroleum in the offshore of the State of Rio deJaneiro, the interest for the course in the admission examcontest was very high, with the relationship candidate/vacancy above 20. That fact provides the approval of thestudents with high degrees and very homogeneous groups. The present work was based on a research accomplishedwith the students of the first group that it is concluding thecourse in the end of 2008. We tried to get up which weretheir professional perspectives when they were admitted inthe university and which are now soon before if they finishthe course. It was accomplished, also, a research on theevasion and retention taxes with the five groups in activity in2008.
