Abstract

A brief historic review of labor organization ispresented among with today’s questions related with thistopic inside the Science, Technology and Society (STS)context. It is not frequent to approach labor organization inthis type of study. However, science and technologyhistorical development affected the production system and sothe job market. The advent of Industrial Revolution in the18th Century and machinery made human labor acquire afeature never seen before. Job relationships changed, timebecame something valuable and controlled, tasks weredivided, production switched from handcraft to massiveproduction. Such matters influenced deeply life in societyand redirected funds to science and technology development.The production system became more efficient and industryowners became rich. But what are the benefits for thelaborers? Did society become more just?
