SENSORES SEM FIO APLICADOS À BIO-ENGENHARIA

Bruno Machado Quartieri, Paulo Alves Garcia

Abstract

This article describes the application of wirelesssensors in the bioengineering’s field. The techniques ofsensing and the characteristics of the transducers used in therespective measurement are studied. The difficulties inmeasuring and physical limitations are also described. Thetechniques for transmission and reception of wireless dataare presented, including its communication architectures, protocols and topologies for interconnection. The issues ofsensing in bioengineering, with its difficulties andlimitations are discussed. The main applications in thebioengineering’s field are described, with focus in theadvantages of remote monitoring of patients. Someresearches related to the wireless sensors technologies arepresented. These researches aim increasing the mobility, comfort and safety of patients with the wireless sensorsapplication. Many examples of sensors application in thehealth and medicine area are presented including thediscussion of the perspectives of technological evolution forthis sector.
