Abstract


One of the main contents of the subject Design ofMachine Elements, part of Mechanical Engineering courses, isBearing Design – which is also a point of main interest among theresearch and design institutes of universities. Aiming atimprovement in education and apprenticeship, with the objective ofmotivating Mechanical Engineer students, this paper tries todevelop an approach to aerostatic fluid film as part of a bearingdesign methodology, applied to each tool-machine directionspindle of interest. A theoretical synthesis on stiffness-tool-machinespindles is initially presented.
