Abstract

The implementation of governance practices in
Information Technology (GTI), widespread in large
corporations, can assist Higher Education Institutions
(HEIs) both public and private in Brazil, resulted in greater
competitiveness in the IT organization in your area,
providing indicators for its monitoring and improvement.
The reliability, integrity and availability of information,
manipulated by an HEI, representing their survival in a
market scenario by the increasingly competitive national
and international competition. Decisions are made
constantly, by their senior managers, based on tacit
knowledge that are not necessarily reliable information. The
IT Governance can be applied to consolidate the strategic
needs of information from senior management of the HEI
and its processes in order to work focused on one goal, and
enhancing IT in their daily lives, with strategic advantage in
their decisions.
