Abstract

Educational models based on constructivist
theories envision the student as constructor of knowledge
itself through proactive in finding content and experiences
outside the classroom environment. In recent years
technological developments have impacted on teaching and
learning of electrical engineering. The revolution in
information associated with the Web has systematically
innovating the educational process through distance
learning. In this scenario, we highlight the use of computer
applications that enable control of remote labs. The use of
virtual environments in classroom laboratory practice
encourages students to not only the flexibility of time, but
especially the ability to gradually build their knowledge
based on experiments directly related to the practice of
electrical engineering. The paper presents preliminary
results obtained with the use of a Remote Laboratory, within
a constructivist approach to engineering education in the
area of Power Quality and Control.
