NORMAL ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS – ELECTRICAL AND PHYSIOLOGICAL CONCEPTS BASED ON AN INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH

Laíse Oliveira Resende, Márciai Artiaga Colantoni, Rodrigo Penha Almeida, João Batista Destro Filho

Abstract

The eletrocardiogram (EKG) is a
complementary examination applied to diagnosis and
therapeutic planning of almost all the heart diseases. This
article proposes an interdisciplinary approach for
electrocardiographic training, in order to facilitate
medicine, nursing and biomedical engineering
undergraduate education, providing to the students a
didactic material that leads to efficient learning of basic
concepts in electrocardiogram analysis. In consequence, our
proposal enables to tie EKG and cardiac physiology. The
article also provides amplitudes/duration of all points and
complexes, which are necessary for signal-processing
purposes. Based on standard bibliography used in
undergraduate courses, tables that relate electrical,
physiological and anatomical issues of normal EKG are
developed.
