MINT GOES INTERNATIONAL: INNOVATION TO BECOME MAJOR FOCUS

Joseph A. Morgan, Joseph Luca, George B. Wright, Helmut Dispert

Abstract

The Master of Innovative Technology bridges
the industry/education nexus by identifying industry and
community growth areas and support students in
customizing the course structure to suit these needs. The
program has a unique approach in developing skills, as it
has a multidisciplinary focus. The approach enables
students to perform project work, and gain experience in
areas that are clearly in need of new skill and tool sets, and
in which courses have not yet been developed.
The MInT Program, developed by Edith Cowan University
and Kiel University of Applied Sciences, laid the
groundwork to work collaboratively with Texas A&M
University to provide a direct entry for students graduating
from the Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering
Technology Programs.
Students entering this new educational path capitalize on
their innovation success achieved during their Capstone
Design Experience. This paper reports on the status of the
collaborative effort and the vision of the MInT initiative.
