AN AUTOMATIC GARAGE DOOR SYSTEM: A CAPSTONE DESIGN PROJECT

Abstract


This paper proposes a system that automaticallyopens the garage door as the vehicle approaches thedriveway so that the driver does not have to idle excessively.If the garage door is already opened, then it will stay openas the vehicle approaches. The system will be userprogrammable for automatic/manual open. When the vehicleenters the garage and the driver shuts off the ignition orleaves the garage the driver has to simply flick the highbeams momentarily for the garage to toggle open or close.When the vehicle passes a certain point on the drive way, thegarage door automatically closes. The advantage of thisautomatic garage door system is that it can be fitted intomany different vehicles using the existing remote control.The cigarette lighter was used to power the electronics thatare contained in the car.
