USO DO CONTROLE WII REMOTE COMO CURSOR PARA MANIPULAÇÃO DE OBJETOS TRIDIMENSIONAIS EM AMBIENTES DE REALIDADE VIRTUAL

Roberto Scalco, Alessandro Guilherme De Freitas

Abstract

This paper presents a proposal for developing ahuman-machine interface that allows the user to interactwith objects modeled in a virtual space using the Wii Remotecontrol of the video game Nintendo Wii. Thus, the inputdevice to capture data pass three informations instead oftwo, in contrast the utilization of the mouse. In possession ofthe accelerations the control sends to computer, it’s possibleto create a cursor to manipulate three-dimensional objectsin virtual environment. As a case of study, the image of thevirtual world can be projected on a screen and, for example,a Physics teacher can drag blocks, simulating a force on thebody, or even move a rope designed to harmonic motionsdemonstrations. As a second phase of the project, there’sgoing to be a replacement of the public demonstrationmediated by a projection screen for a immersive threedimensionalenvironment using a HMD device.Index Terms ⎯ Computer Graphics, Physics Learning,Virtual Reality, Wii Remote.
