FORMAÇÃO DOCENTE PARA EDUCAÇÃO A DISTÂNCIA: ENSINO E APRENDIZAGEM DE INGLÊS EM AMBIENTES VIRTUAIS

Abstract


The reformation of the University Educationpromoted by the Law 7200 in 2006 points at education at adistance (EaD) as the main axle in the expansion of theuniversity education in Brazil, having included in it theactivities of teaching, researching and extension. Theadoption of this educational format to increase thevacancies in university courses has led to a number ofdebates about its limits and possibilities. This paper aims atverifying how the actual implementation and development ofEaD contributes to the teaching-learning process. The highlevel of school evasion among the students in EaD has beenhypothetically attributed to the teacher’s inability in dealingwith new technology or to his/her inability in motivating thestudents. Considering some experiences with EaD in Englishteaching for professional and technological education, thispaper discusses that hypo thesis in order to contribute to theprocess of the virtual teacher’s formation.Index terms - education at a distance, English teaching,teacher’s formation, virtual education.
