SOCIO-PSYCHOLOGICAL COMPETENCE OF FUTURE ENGINEERS AND ITS DEVELOPMENT IN THE SYSTEM OF SUPPLEMENTARY PROFESSIONAL EDUCATION

Abstract


The contemporary engineer alongside withbroad general and special knowledge needs high intellectualculture, ability to respond to innovations rapidly andefficiently, and socio-psychological competence as basicintegral personal characteristic. Socio-psychologicalcompetence reflects achievements in relations andinteraction between the person and other people that allowsefficient resolving of social situations, choosing andrealization of adequate strategies and tactics of interactionand mastering of self-regulation mechanisms for successfulsocial and professional activity. Socio-psychologicalcompetence of future engineers should be developed in theeducational process at the university or college. The systemof supplementary professional education has the necessarypedagogic potential to be one of the major instruments ofdeveloping this socially and professionally importantcharacteristic. Additional education in psychology andpedagogics is an essential factor of developing sociopsychologicalcompetence of engineering students.Index Terms ⎯ socio-psychological competence,supplementary professional education, personaldevelopment of engineering students, competitiveness on thelabour market .
