A DETERMINAÇÃO TRIDIMENSIONAL DA FORMA NAS VILAS DE A. PALLADIO.

Abstract

There is a different angle from which to analyzethe villas designed by Andrea Palladio (1508-1580). Bystripping them of their total volume, retrieving theindividuality of each room, but a clear possibility ofunderstanding his principles. The ratio between width,length and height in the interior of each room and theconstant proportion among rooms and between all roomsand the entire volume built are thus exposed, revealing aprocedure that is common for the villas as a whole andunique for each of them. In chapters XXIII and XXIV of bookfirst of his treaty, A. Palladio shows the arithmetic,geometric and harmonic means to establish the height ofrooms. With either flat roofs or domes, the three dimensionsmust be proportionally equated. By means of experimentalelectronic models, following Palladio’s definitions, we canbring to light this project procedure, essentially a threedimensionaloperation.Index Terms ⎯ Andrea Palladio (1508-1580), experimentalelectronic models, villas.
