Abstract

This issue analysis the journalist materialpublished on Correio Braziliense between July andSeptember 2007 that refers to rural women. The timeselection was made because of the Margarida’s Marchpromotion, a mobilization realized by the Women’sCommission of National Confederation of Rural Workers(Contag) which aims improve better life’s condition forrural women. In the light of theories such as SocialRepresentations and Newsmaking’s contribution, this studyuses the Discourse Analysis of Strand French to comprehendthe journalist discourse construction about the women’srural worker. It seeks to understand how the language andthe representation are structured in the analyzed material;and, also, comprehend the power strategies exercised by thejournalist discourse.Index Terms ⎯ Discourse, Journalism, Representation,Women Rural Workers
