Abstract

Discussed by artists and thinkers such asDuchamp and Gombrich, the question of materiality is acontroversy in the field of arts since a long time. In thispaper, the theme will be explored with concepts frompeircean semiotics and the notion of affordance coinedby J. J. Gibson - the universe of language, or thefundamental dialog or co-evolution between imaginativemind and offered material qualities.
