Abstract


This communication presents an informationvisualization application, the Global Terrorism DatabaseVisualization (GTDV) addressing the issue of terrorism.GTDV applies techniques and processes of informationvisualization emphasizing the aesthetics besides thefunctionality, to display data from terrorist events between1970 and 2004 compiled from the Global TerrorismDatabase from the University of Maryland, USA. Wedescribe the Global Terrorism Database Visualizationinterface, critically analyzing it and specifying the structuraland visualization techniques used.
