CLOWN NO HOSPITAL: UMA PROPOSTA DE ACOMPANHAMENTO

Abstract

The present work is based on the performanceof the clown with children and accompanists in vulnerableconditions, due to lack of health and admission in thepediatric wing of a public hospital in São José dos Campos,Brazil. Based on the fact that laughter releases serotoninand stimulates the production of endorphins, our purpose isto employ the clown as a means of reinventing reality andrespecting peculiarities, providing care and joy to patientsand accompanists, or at least minimize their suffering. Theproposed methodology is to present, through the clown,“imperfect characters†that are seen as heroes, such asAndersen´s Tin Soldier and the Ugly Duckling, amongothers. The authenticity of the communication obtained bythe clown can collaborate in the treatment of internees,facilitating the approach of the individual in physical andemotional suffering and creating conditions for theexpression of people in the hospital.Index Terms ⎯ children care, clown, hospital, art.
