AVALIAÇÃO DAS CONFERÊNCIAS ESTADUAIS DE MEIO AMBIENTE-CEMAS & PERFIL DOS DELEGADOS

Abstract


This research analysis the trajectory of theState Conferences of Environment-SCE of the years 2003,2005 and 2008, held in the state of Amazonas, with focus onassessing the profile of the delegates in the conferences. Thecategories of delegates are defined and guaranteed by theregulations of the State Conference, distributed as follows:Civil Society - 50%, Business corporations - 30% andgovernment sector comprising 20%. The results showed anascending scale of participation of women jumping from21.73% of delegates elected at the SCE I-2003 to 40.78% inSCE III-2008, while the age of the delegates is concentratedbetween 40 and 55 y.o. and Manaus municipalitypredominates as their origin, reflecting a low representationof young and that of other municipalities. Delegates from thebusiness and government sectors have, in most cases, havehigher levels of education when compared to delegates fromsocial movements.Index Terms ⎯  Conference, Governance, environment esociety.
