Abstract

This paper presents a case study thatdemonstrates the economic viability of generating electricityfrom the cow manure with the Jenbacher engine (FromGeneral Electric, Germany). We conducted aproject to design the digester to the data supplied by GE forthe generator, as well as raising the cost of producingelectricity from cow manure generated in theaforementioned region. According to the results obtained fora cost of electricity produced from 0,43 R$ / kWh, the rate ofreturn the project to implement the power plant to generateenergy from cow manure was approximately 8 years, whichdemonstrated that the economic viability of this project. Keywords ⎯ renewable energy, biogas, sustainabledevelopment, biofuel.
