ESTUDO DE UM MODELO MATEMÁTICO PARA O CORTE SUSTENTÁVEL E QUANTIFICAÇÃO DO ESTOQUE DE CARBONO EM UMA FLORESTA DE EUCALIPTO

Teodora Pinheiro Figueroa, Luiz Fernando Puttow Southier

Abstract

This article aims to present a study on the sustainable harvesting of a forest of eucalypts through a mathematical model and quantify the carbon stocks in plantation. The forest under study is formed only by Eucalyptus trees dunni Maiden divided into several classes sorted by price. The harvesting is determined by a fixed time period. It was felt that a new cut every tree is planted another in its place, so the forest will always have the same number of trees each replanting. In the mathematical model all seedlings will survive until the time of harvesting. The mathematical model was developed analytically and numerically using linear programming. The results suggest a forest management that requires the integration of forestry, industry and market in order to maximize the financial return and at the same time ensuring a sustainable growth of forests.
