Abstract

The leaf analysis is the most efficient technique to obtain information on the nutritional status of plants. Interest in the chemical composition of the parent plant is growing, and the development of faster and more efficient methods is necessary. In this work, the parameters of nitric acid concentration, temperature and time final decomposition in a microwave oven and block digester, were optimized using multivariate methodologies. After obtaining the optimal values of the parameters chosen, the accuracy of the two proposed methods was assessed by the recovery of analytes in two certified reference materials. The recoveries ranged between 97 and 112% for the microwave, and 96-112% for the digestion block digester, statistical comparison showed no significant difference between the values obtained by the proposed methods and the certified values, these methods can be used for digestion of plant tissue as an alternative faster and more effective.
