HEPATOTOXICIDADE APÓS ADMINISTRAÇÃO DE ALTAS DOSES DE ARTEMISIA ABSINTHIUM L EM RATTUS NORVEGICUS

Abstract


Thewormwood (Artemisia absinthium L..),, is aplant that since ancient times,, is used for therapeuticpurposes and manufacture of alcoholic beverages.. Thisherb contains flavonoids,, phenolic acids,, lignans,, bittersesquiterpene lactones,, acetylenes and volatile oils(including toxic thujone).. It''s use of correct form andwithout excess is made to cure digestive problems,,hepatics,, joint,, skin; mestrual pain,, parasitic,, and others..However,, if is used in doses higher than recommended,, itcan cause intoxication,, seizzures,, nausea,, poisoning andeven death.. Thisresearch will analyzze whether high dosesof tea A.. absinthium,, for seven days,, can cause livertoxicity in mice of the Wistar variety.. The analysis will behistopathological,, karyometric,, and stereological.. Afterthe conclusion of this study,, the results will help in theherbal treatment so there is no hepatotoxicity and theresults are positive..
