Abstract

Belem is the capital of Pará, the largest city in northern Brazil, the territory that comprises the metropolitan area of Belém, has an area of 51,569.36 ha and 17,317.24 ha refers to the continental portion mainland and an insular portion of 34252.12 ha which comprises 42 islands, being the island of Combu is one of them. The aim of this study was to determine the chemical and environmental conditions of water bodies on the island of Combu by physicochemical and biochemical front of the CONAMA Resolution 357-05. It was used the YSI sonde 6600 for the measurement of the parameters, colorimetry analysis for phosphate and nitrate and chemometrics for the interpretation of results. The results showed that the rivers have preserved their conditions except for pH which showed to be below the minimum recommended in some places and chlorophyll> 30 µg / L at all points evaluated.
