Abstract

The work developed by sanitation operators
involves the monitoring of pumps, putting them in contact
with the physical agent noise. The continued exposure to this risk leads to serious health problems in short and long term. Regarding this context, the study is aimed at assessing the noise to which these workers are exposed, verify if the preservation of their health is ensured, and thus propose the necessary corrective and preventive measures. Therefore, a sample was established and a method of data collection was developed by implementing a protocol to identify the use of control measures and performing dosimetry during labour in pumping of non-potable water of the state of Pernambuco. The obtained data show that when workers need to remain inside the pump house, the results exceeded the maximum allowed.
