Abstract


The presenteeism is by definition, an officialwho is physically present in the workplace, but mentally andemotionally absent, which hinders the development of theirtasks. Most companies know the problem is often the resultof stress, ie, it is difficult to diagnose. The authorizingofficial's hardly notices this. Thus, only a small proportionof employees seeking medical help. Cases of presenteeismare often confused with excessive dedication. There are twoconcepts of the present: one involves occupational health,relationships and organizational conditions of work, theemployee continues working, even sick and produces little.The other refers to employees who remain at work beyondits limits, producing much, for fear of being fired or deletedfor not being available when needed. The objective of thiswork is to study the causes of presenteeism and itsconsequences to the company and employee.keywords - Presenteeism, Stress, Information Technology.
