Abstract

Virtual Reality (VR) systems allows the designof interactive and immersive environments for the simulationof a wide range of situations. These features has beenexploited to build realistic applications in order to providestudy and training in several areas, particularly in medicine. In this sense, the addition of techniques to assess the actionsof users can provide simulations based on virtual realitymore efficient for medical training, especially by helping themeasure of users' skills after the execution of procedures insuch virtual environments. This work details theimplementation and integration of an assessment modulebased on fuzzy logic to a framework for development ofvirtual reality applications for medical training. Tests tomeasure the performance of the assessment module weredesigned over a gynecological examination simulator basedon VR.Index Terms - fuzzy logic, medical simulation, skillassessment, virtual reality.
