ELISA aims to increase in a significant way thepossibility that a person can be quickly located and assistedin case of an emergency situation, such as kidnapping, automobile accident or health crisis. ELISA is a systembased on mobile devices, e.g. a smart phone, and a networkof micro-sensors which automatically (or manually)generates an alarm signal in case of imminent risk. Userphysical location is obtained by the GPS module integratedin the device. Alarm classification is carried out by means ofa network of micro-sensors that monitor sound, vertical andhorizontal acceleration, heart rate, breathing rate, and skintemperature. The types of alarm are: health alert;automobile accident alert, for example, turn-over or highimpact crash; physical integrity alert, such as an assault, avehicle crystal rupture, or gunshot; and preemptive alert, when the system is activated manually to announce animminent risk.Index Terms ⎯ Health care, network of micro-sensors,positioning systems, safe, security.
