INCREASING OF MEDIUM VOLTAGE NETWORK SAFETY WITH USING MEDIUM VOLTAGE LABORATORY

Stanislav Mišák, Karel Sokanský

Abstract

The analysis of operating and fault states ofmedium voltage electric power system is necessary forensuring the reliable and safe operation of the given system. Some experimental measurements, especially the simulationof fault states cannot be executed owing to a possible threatto reliable operation. For the simulation of such states, theMedium Voltage Laboratory was designed and built atUniversity of Ostrava. With using the MV Laboratory, anyoperating as well as fault state of the analysed electricpower system can be simulated, the behaviour of individualcomponents of electric power system can be tested at longtermstress imposed by degradation factors, and others. TheMV Laboratory is utilised for the experimental part ofteaching the subjects Technical Diagnostic, TransientPhenomena at Electric Systems in the bachelor as well asmaster degree study. Furthermore, the MV Laboratory isused as testing workplace in the framework of researchprojects.Index Terms ⎯ Safety and Reliability, Education, MediumVoltage System, Medium Voltage Laboratory, ClimaticCabinet.
