Abstract

Reverse Engineering is a methodology thatmust be teached to the future engineers in a systematic waybecause a great deal of the activities developed in theindustry are related with it. In this article a method to carryout reverse engineering is presented, this can be used by anyengineer in a wide field of applications; such method ismade of thirteen steps and has been very successful inengineering’s teaching experience. A simple application ofthe method is exposed to illustrate its usefulness, theproblem is to duplicate a mechanical model and implies theuse of CAD/CAM computational tools. Some teachingexperiences are discussed together with others in researchobtained from the application of the described method to theanalysis of practical cases.Index Terms  ⎯ Reverse Engineering, Engineering Teaching,CAD/CAM introduccion.
