Abstract

The final disposal of urban solid wastes becamea big problem to the municipal services. Every day, the solidwastes increase and, with the urban growth, the suitable andavailable areas to built landfills reduce. The objective of amanagement waste program social integrated, wanting tomove the consumption and production models, can bereached using the Environmental Education as tool to touchthe people and promote a behavior change. Theenvironmental and social impacts derived from garbagedump could harm the person inhabitants on the prison. Theincineration technique, with energy generation, is analternative that can be used to treat the urban solid waste.Nevertheless, the incineration should be used with cautionand should be included in an integrated managementprogram that will promote other sources to get energy fromthe garbage, including the separate collection, the recyclingand the biogas.Index-Terms ⎯ Solid waste; Incineration; SeparateCollection; Environmental Education; Electric Energy.
