Abstract


This paper presents a methodology forevaluating an undergraduate course, which wassuccessfully implemented by the Department of ComputerEngineering, at the Federal University of Para, and canbe adopted by other institutions and courses. Themethodology is based on two steps. The first is theperiodic collection of data through the web softwareAvaliafacil, which is open source and available to thecommunity. Avaliafacil allows teachers, students and staffto evaluate the course by filling in forms via the Internet.The second step is the processing of information throughconventional statistics (for example, statisticalcorrelation) and data mining techniques (decision trees,association rules, etc.), which try to discover patterns noteasily identified in the collected data.Index Terms ⎯ evaluation methodology, data mining,learning assessing.
