Abstract

Security of building installations has been thesubject of numerous discussions in Brazil and abroad.Concerning to the systems of protections against lightning(SPDA), auditing standards have been following globaltrends using the structural systems of reinforced concreteas a conductor. There is not yet full acceptance of thetechnique, since if that is not performed with the requiredcare, it would cause further serious problems of thebuilding, compromising the safety of the installation.SPDA´s projects require precision knowledge ofelectromagnetic phenomena. The implementation of theproject must be an object of serious concern. Being that asubject of vital importance, this paper proposes anintegrated action targeting Electrical Engineering andCivil Engineering Courses for the record explicitly in thecurricular programs content that treats the practicaldetails of the project and implementation of a SPDA.Index Terms ⎯ Down conductor, Electrical Engineeringcourse, grounding, lightning protection system.
