Abstract


This article presents NDL, acronym of Novice inDistance Learning, as a free and expansible expert system forInstructional Designers (ID). This system contains a specificknowledge base to advice ID during the decision-making process ofthe most promising tools. Tools are referred as both free androbust collaborative devices over browsers that use cloudcomputingtechnology and version control system for data storage.NDL interacts with users by collecting a large number ofinterrelated elements during the intervention phase, and theirdegrees of certainty. In the end, the inference machine deduces andpresents how decisions were made. By using production rules userscan follow step-by-step the whole decision process. Results showedthat the proposed expert system proved to assist not only IDprofessionals, but also to assist non-ID professionals, such asprofessors and undergraduate students in accomplishment of tasksfor short or long projects.Palavras Chaves – Ensino a Distância, Sistema Especialista,Inteligência Artificial, Ferramentas Colaborativas.
