ETNOMATEMÁTICA: CONHECIMENTOS MATEMÁTICOS USADOS NAS PRÁTICAS DE PROFISSIONAIS NOS PROCESSOS DE BENEFICIAMENTO DE ROCHAS ORNAMENTAIS

Abstract


The study investigated how the professionalsin the processing of ornamental solve mathematicalproblems in their professions. Sought to identify themathematical skills used in the profession and what therelationship between school mathematics and mathematicsthey use, ie ethnomathematics. The work made use ofdescriptive and qualitative data were collected throughinterviews with the subjects. The theoretical talk aboutEthnomathematics, which is the mathematics learnedoutside of school, or in their family, friends, work, etc. andOrnamental Stone sector. As a result, we identified that theprofessionals surveyed applied the traditional mathematicsto solve problems in their activities in a natural andcontextualized way, without identifying which math conceptsapplied. We concluded that this professional group usesethnomathematics because it has peculiar ways of applyingmathematics and characteristical instruments of this sector.Key-words - Ethnomathematics, mathematic, mathematicseducation, dimension stone, processing of dimension stones.
