ENSINO DE RESPONSABILIDADE SÓCIO-AMBIENTAL E SUSTENTABILIDADE: REFLEXÕES E PRÃTICAS EM CURSOS DE ENGENHARIA

Abstract

The engineering education has faced manychallenges, such as that presented by the United NationsDecade of Education for Sustainable Development, takingplace from 2005 until 2014. The teaching of social andenvironmental responsibility and sustainability comes totrain future professionals to better guide the developmentand sustainable and still dealing with the social andenvironmental responsibility of their decisions. Thisarticle is based on a review of literature on social andenvironmental responsibility, sustainable development andengineering education, in documents and publicationsindexed in major databases and aims to highlight andreflect about the practices of engineering education at apublic Brazilian University. This study highlights the needfor training of future managers in these perspectives andthe integration of social and environmental responsibilityand sustainability dimensions, transversally, in thecurriculum of graduate and postgraduates studies ofEngineering.Index Terms ⎯ Sustainability, Environmental and SocialResponsibility, Education.
