Abstract

The present study shows an overview ofhydrochemistry balance of the Murucupi river, Barcarena-PA after accident on April 27, 2009 where the red mudoriginated from the company Alunorte was dumped intoriver. We analyzed the anions chloride, nitrate, chlorophylla, ammonia and ammonium and sodium with the aid of amultiparameter probe. Chloride (513 ± 261.52 mg/L) valueswere not in accordance with CONAMA Resolution 357-05in 11 of the 14 points measured with a variation range from132 to 956.40 mg/L. The results of Cl - to indicate the use ofHCl (hydrochloric acid) as a neutralizing agent of causticsoda (NaOH) used in the production of alumina. This isreinforced by the neutral pH (pH around 7) found in the riverMurucupi, which normally features acidic (pH around 5) andthe studies of correlation and PCA. The other parameters arein accordance with the resolution.Index Terms - Anions, aluminum, industry, Murucupi river.
