Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the behaviourof the MXL IQ addresseable alarm central in the presence ofan electromagnetic field. The theme is relevant becauseelectromagnetic fields are not considered to interfere withthe functioning of the addresseable alarm central by makingthe building’s fire detection and alarm system inneficient, maximizing risks to property and to human life. The datawas gathered from a real situation that occurred in abusiness office building where the alarm central presentedunconformities in its command line. For this study, theelectrical and magnetic fields this alarm central wasexposed were calculated. As a result of this calculation, thebigger the distance between the no-break electrical duct andthe devices’ tubing (manual activators) is, the smaller theelectrical and magnetic fields and their influence are, resulting in a reliable fire detection and alarm system.Index Terms ⎯ Fire. Addressable Intelligent Fire AlarmCentral. Electromagnetic Field. Interference.
