Abstract


Renewable Energies unit in the Courses ofTechnological Specialization (CTS) aims at learning aboutthe various types of Renewable Energies, its uses anddevelopment both in Portugal and worldwide. This paperpresents the use of active, cooperative learning in CTS.Through this approach it is expected that students developpositive interdependency, individual responsibility, dynamicinteraction, appropriate use of collaborative skills as well asgroup work. Cooperative learning is a dynamic process inwhich students are required to work as a team, with acommon goal. At the beginning of the semester studentswere divided into groups of four so that each member wouldget part of the necessary information to carry out theproposed project. Each member was assigned a specific anddifferent role and received different resources to work with.The assessment is achieved through a final report as well asan oral presentation before the panel of teachers.Index Terms   ⎯ Renewable Energies, Active Learning,Cooperative Learning.
