+ 23: O TRAJECTO CONQUISTADO NO ENSINO SUPERIOR, ANÁLISE DETALHADA DOS CASOS DE ENGENHARIA DA UNIVERSIDADE DO MINHO

Abstract


The implementation of the Bologna Process inthe Portuguese Higher Education system led to a scenario ofchanges at the education level. The adequacy of thePortuguese higher education system to other Europeancountries has determined, among other measures, the accessexpansion, especially for new publics. Among others the +23year old students and Technology Specialization Courses(CET) are considered new public. A survey was carried out,regarding the academic years 2004/2005 through2008/2009., in order to understand the academicperformance of students entering through the +23 year oldstudents quota courses in Engineering and Technology, ofUniversity of Minho. A results analysis was performed.Understanding the students performance in the highereducation system allows improving the learning/ teachingmethodologies for this new public. This study analyzes theperformance and academic approval of students from theirentrance to present.Index Terms ⎯ Higher Education; New public; +23;academic performance.
