Abstract


The Technology Learning Academy is aprogram that has been implemented at QueensboroughCommunity College for the purpose of increasing retentionand improving graduation rates. It provides acomprehensive program of activities which are designed toestablish an environment for student success. TheTechnology Learning Academy is a program aimed atproviding a special identity for students, grouped byacademic program. The program strives to give eachstudent a peer reference and support group and to providefaculty and staff "faces" for their program at the College.Components of the Technology Learning Academy includespecialized blocked and linked courses, targeted advisement,and close interaction among individual students, groups ofstudents, faculty and staff. The purpose is to provide ourstudents with the best educational experience possible forthem at the College, and to move them through to theachievement of their educational goals, especiallygraduation, in a timely fashion.
