MADI STATE TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY: PAST AND PRESENT

Abstract

Moscow Automobile and Roads Institute(MADI State Technical University) was established in 1930and now celebrates its 80 th anniversary. Before 1930 theautomobile engineering as a discipline was professed inMoscow Institute for Railway Transport Engineering (MIIT).At present, MADI has developed into one of biggest RussianTechnical Universities embracing many fields of moderntechnologies. Having 8 principal departments with morethan 10,000 students, MADI produces about 2,000 youngengineers annually for 22 specializations. The MADI is alsoone of Russian centers for foreign students from manycountries of the world who receive there their preliminarytraining in Russian language and in basic sciences such asPhysics and Mathematics. The MADI hosted twosymposiums of International Society for EngineeringEducation (IGIP) and has 46 International EngineeringEducators included into ING-PAED Register of IGIP. Somehistorical aspects and present trends in the development ofMADI State Technical University have been overviewed.Index Terms ⎯ Russian engineering school, MADI StateTechnical Univerrsity.
