Abstract

Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) is aparticular case of human computer communication in whichall interactive computer-based artifacts are meant to expressa design vision according to an engineered significationsystem. Semiotics investigates signification andcommunication while Semiotic Engineering is an attempt tobring together semiotics and HCI in a concise and consistentway while providing a useful ontology. This ontology may beused to derive frameworks and models of particular aspectsof HCI. In this perspective, this paper intends to presentsome challenges and possibilities related to this field ofinvestigation while considering the educational use oftechnology.
