Abstract

The water quality current models countfunctional and structural limitations, such as: difficultyaccomplishing time-variable simulation and inability ofshowing – separately – the results of the physics andbiochemistry processes existing in the natural water body. Therefore the goal of this study is develop a model for thesurface water quality simulation, at steady-state and timevariable, aiming at correcting the limitations that wheredescribed above. The software Vensim DSS® was used forthe new model construction, nominated MQAV. The resultsobtained, with the MQAV model, adjusted well to the resultsgenerated by the QUAL family models, at steady-state. Thesimulations at time-variable presented good results since thenumeric solution followed the tendency general of theanalytic solution.
